MITCHELL AND OLSON ELECTED TO LEAD
SHEPHERD’S CENTER OF LEXINGTON
AS CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR OF THE BOARD
LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA — The Shepherd’s Center of Lexington’s Board of Directors is proud to re-elect Kay Mitchell as Chair of the Board on June 9, 2017. Ms. Mitchell brings her years of knowledge and experience to the Board. Most of her career was spent with the SC State Unit on Aging as the Director of Education and Information Services. She spent time leading teams to develop programs and services for older adults. Along with a career that assisted older adults, Ms. Mitchell serves as a Board Member and Past President (6 times) of the Pilot Club of Columbia. She also represents Lexington County on South Carolina Silver Haired Legislature and serves as Central Midlands Caucus Chair.
Recognized for her expertise in senior living programs and services, Sandy Olson brings over 30 years of experience to the Shepherd’s Center Board of Directors. Most of her many years of professional experience is in the not-for-profit sector which makes her a perfect match for Shepherd’s Center operations. Mrs. Olson served the Pilot Clubs of Sumter and Columbia both as board member and club president. She is also a long time member of the Rotary Club of Forest Acres where she served as President, Secretary, Board Member and soon will be President again for a second time. She is co-founder of the Business Development Breakfast a networking group of professionals in the senior living industry that just celebrated its 10th anniversary. Mrs. Olson began her Shepherd’s Center involvement by registering for a class in how to play bridge. From there she was appointed to the Adventures in Learning Planning Committee, the Board of Directors and Vice Chairman of the Board. She also serves as chairman of the fundraising committee and is a course instructor.
Both Ms. Mitchell and Mrs. Olson are excited to lead the Shepherd’s Center of Lexington as it continues to grow and help out the community in and around Lexington, SC.
