HomeService Outreach

Besides lifelong learning programs, another key focus for Shepherd’s Centers is “Support for Daily Living.” Our plan is to recruit, vet and train dedicated volunteers who are willing to offer services especially for home bound elderly such as transportation (medical appointments and grocery shopping), minor home repairs, companion aides, and respite care.  Why?  Because social isolation is a major risk foraging!  According to the website  “Today more than 10 million adults age 65 and over live alone in the U.S.  Prolonged social isolation increases the risk of depression, cognitive impairment and early mortality.”
